These traditional baskets are hand-woven by basket weavers in the AfriBeads Women’s Association in Uganda. They are made using a traditional African coiled weaving technique from raffia palm tightly woven around a core of banana leaf stem.
The small bowls are approx 20cm in diameter and come in traditional black and earthy tones, or bright colour patterns.
The patterns each represent an element of traditional African culture. The coloured baskets are traditionally given in Uganda as gifts on special occasions and can be used for fruit, bread or decoration. They are the perfect accent for any room of the house.
Arranging an assortment of raffia bowl sizes on the wall make a great decorative feature for any room in the home. Mix and match with wall baskets of other materials, such as the Binga baskets. Adding different textures can bring an interesting aesthetic to the wall basket arrangement.
