Our hand woven African pot baskets are from Bolga in Northern Ghana. Traditionally used to carry goods, the Ghanaian bolga baskets are famous for their durability and long lasting quality. Made from dried elephant grass, dyed using a combination of natural occurring dyes from the earth and fabric dyes to achieve the vibrant colours and patterns recognisable throughout African culture.

Useful to use as storage baskets, market baskets, shopping baskets, picnic baskets, beach baskets or as a planter – the uses are endless!

The basket dimensions vary due to the handmade nature of these products but will measure approx 28cm in diameter across the top of the basket and 45cm in diameter across the bottom of the basket. They are approx 35cm in height excluding the handle.

These woven pot baskets may need to be reshaped after being in transit – see our care instructions for easy steps on how to do this.

About Bolga Baskets

Product Care Instructions

Bolga Baskets can be cleaned using water. We do not recommend the use of soaps or cleaning product as this can affect the dyes used on the product. Baskets can get out of shape during their travels and this can be easily fixed. Simply soak the basket in water and reshape while the basket is damp. Dry in natural sunlight.
