Hand woven using the same technique as the famous Bolga baskets, these hand percussion instruments are traditionally played along side drummers and were thought to ward off evil spirits.
Known as Caxixi (pronounced Ka-shee-shee) rattle or shaker, they make a similar sound to maracas. They contain dried seeds or small pebbles, hand woven from elephant grass and the base is cut from dried calabash gourd.
A great percussion instrument for the little aspiring musician or makes a lovely decor piece in the home.
Size: 20cm x 8cm, may vary due to handmade nature.
Recommended for ages 3 and over. Contains small parts inside the shaker.
