Adinkra are a set of symbols used in Ghanaian culture to capture traditional wisdoms and are an important part of Ghanaian heritage. For our logo, we drew inspiration from the Sankofa symbol for the wisdom in its meaning: “we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward”.
We buy all our products directly from African artisans. So when you buy from Adinkra Designs, you are buying more than just a product. You are buying hours of skilled traditional craftsmanship that has been passed on through many generations. Most importantly, when you buy from us, your purchase provides an opportunity out of poverty for the artisan and their family; an opportunity to move forward.
But our desire to help doesn’t end there; a portion of our profits will be dedicated to funding much needed resources and education for children in Ghana. Please click below to learn more about how we are supporting communities in Ghana and how you can be a part of it.
